Since 1955, the World Press Photo Foundation has been committed to press freedom and first-class photojournalism. With the World Press Photo Exhibition, it created the world’s largest and most prestigious competition for professional press photography. For the 66th edition of the competition, 3,752 photographers from 127 countries submitted 60,448 photographs. Thirty-one highly qualified jury members from around the world spent six weeks helping to select the winners.
All award-winning photos will now be on display for five weeks at the Robbe & Berking Museum, marking the fourth time in the history of the competition that they will be shown in Schleswig-Holstein.
This year’s winners address topics such as the impact of war on the civilian population, the climate crisis, and the importance of freedom of the press.
