General information
Thalatta is a fast cruising 8 meter designed and built by Tore Holm during his hay days in his famous yard in Gamleby 1938. This beautiful yacht is presented ready for the 2024 season, a fast yacht for racing or a perfect family yacht for cruising.
Few yachts have the same recorded history with only two owners and is largely original with no major refits or restorations.
Thalatta was ordered by two brothers Drakenberg in 1938 and owned in the family until 1999 when the second owner bought her. She has cruised and raced around the Baltic and North Sea, in 2000 and 2001 she competed successfully with podium positions in the Prada Classic Yacht Challenge in the Mediterranean. She is a regular attendant in local racing event in the Baltic.
Thalatta has been registered in the Swedish Royal Yacht Club (KSSS) since 1938 and in the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) since year 2000.
She has been stored indoors every winter and looked after by the families and professionals. The hull and deck are almost completely original and in very good condition. Her mast, spreaders and spinnaker boom are original, the boom has been rebuilt.
Refits:
1970 Restauration of cockpit and addition of steering wheel. Shortening of boom. Enlargement of front hatch. Addition of engine.
2005 Return cockpit to original drawings, lengthening of boom to original length, rebuild of front hatch to original size.
For the 2024 season the following has been done: New electrics, rewiring. Bare hull painting of bottom and new varnish top side. New running rigging.
