Comments
With Noreg IV, an extraordinary classic 6mR yacht is offered for sale. She is the final 6-metre design by the legendary naval architect Johan Anker and also the last boat built at his shipyard – a remarkable piece of sailing history.
The yacht was commissioned in the late 1930s by a consortium led by the then Norwegian Crown Prince Olav, and she proved successful already in her first season in 1939. Among other achievements, she defended the One Ton Cup in Hankø and impressed at international regattas with her excellent windward ability and speed upwind.
After the Second World War, Crown Prince Olav continued to sail the boat for several more years before she later changed hands and eventually made her way to the United States. Over the following decades, the yacht was repeatedly modified and restored. In the late 1980s, the cabin that had been installed in the meantime was removed again, and the original two cockpits were reinstated.
The current owner acquired Noreg IV in 2006 and carried out a comprehensive restoration together with an experienced master boatbuilder. In particular, the hull was completely re-planked. Today, Noreg IV is lovingly maintained and ready to welcome her new owner.
