The “World Press Photo Exhibition” for the first time in Schleswig Holstein
7th August – 4th October 2020: Robbe & Berking Yachting Heritage Centre, Flensburg, Germany.
Since 1955, the “World Press Photo Foundation” has been committed to freedom of the press and first-class photojournalism. With the World Press Photo Exhibition, it created the world’s largest and most renowned competition for professional press photography. This year, 4,282 photographers from 125 countries submitted 73,996 pictures for the competition. An international independent jury under the direction of Lekgetho Makola selected the best 156 works in Amsterdam on 16th April.
All award-winning photographs will now be on display for eight weeks at the Robbe & Berking Yachting Heritage Centre, and thus for the first time in the history of the competition in Schleswig Holstein. Flensburg will be one of the smallest of the exhibition venues ever, which this year include Amsterdam, Rome, Sydney, Montreal, Berlin, Budapest, Barcelona and Milan. At the same time as Flensburg, the exhibition will also be shown in Germany at the Willy Brandt Haus in Berlin.
WORLD PRESS PHOTO is supported worldwide by the Dutch Nationale Postcode Loterij, Aegon and pwc PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The exhibition in Flensburg is supported by NOSPA Nord-Ostsee Sparkasse – Höft Bauunternehmen – Hapag Lloyd Cruises – Goslings – IfT Institut für Talententwicklung – WOB Timber and the silver manufacturer Robbe & Berking.
