Seascapes from the collection of the International Maritime Museum Hamburg
For the first time, the young Flensburg-based museum is presenting an exhibition created in collaboration with its partner, the International Maritime Museum Hamburg. The result of this collaboration offers visitors the opportunity to experience exhibits from a very special perspective and discover works by both old and new masters that have never been presented to the public before.
Like hardly any other art form, marine painting has always reflected numerous facets of the past. Whether depicting the everyday life of fishermen or major historical events, seascapes are more than just images; they are maritime mirrors of bygone eras. The exhibition “Horizons” highlights over three centuries of seascapes and links world and art history with its paintings and ship models.
